tail light verdict?

right now i am running the chrome altezzas. i have a black on black SE 97'. should i save money and just paint the outside chrome part black and do like a skyline thing that some members have. i dont have stock lights, so do i go to a junk hard and pick them up off a wrecked max, do the do it yourself red/clears?

do i pay xtra money for a DIY red/clear or just buy black paint and do the skyline thing?

well it seems red/clear is the obvious choice here, anyone else?

im pretty much basing my opinions on your guy's thoughts. im all about doing what u think looks good.

i like red/clears more, but the painting altezzas will be cheaper, and i hate spending money. but if i shave my shave my rear end, red/clears will look much better

If you have some other mod in mind then id spend my money on it. Cause taillights are just that. Get something for your stereo or performance. I would save my money, put on some viynl to do the skyline thing temporarily, and get a couple of subs. If you really want to do the tails and make them look better, then do the DIY 97-99 red clears, but do it with a parital smoke of the interior lens. Looks ten times better, and even 20 times better on dark cars.

i totaly agree, thats why i said i am all about doing what you think looks good. dont go off what other people say looks good, they can do that to their own car, you do what you want to yours.

but in this situation i am completely torn, that is why i am taking optinions, but i am pretty sure that i will just go to a junk yard and pick up a pair of stock lights, and do the DIY red/clears. and i definatly want to tint it a bit, my car is black with black leather, so i am going for the sleek, sexy, black sleeper look. so you all can expect to see a thread on how to tint your redclears, in about 2-3 weeks.

I like the skyline tailights mod, but the more pictures i see of it, the more it reminds me of an impala, rather than a syline.

I just did the red/clears this weekend, and i have to honestly say, i was surprised at how much i like them. Granted, they're still stock taillights, but everything looks like it flows better, and it looks a helluva lot better than stock. I never saw the big deal with them, but now, i gotta say, it looks sweet.

I still have my chrome altezzas tho, and maybe one day i'll do the alteazza mod.

i like how it looks as well, its different, but the red/clears, are just so slick looking, especially with black on black, (which is what my car is)

i started a thread about a week ago how new impalas with the spoiler look like 4th gens and i have the chrome altezzas and it looks even more similar.

anyone got any tail light tint suggestions?
