Do I need an INTAKE????????????????????????
Hey all...I own a 99 Max SE-L 5-spd and am about to invest in a STILLEN intake. I have a few questions concerning the intake and was hoping that someone here could help answer them. I know that the intake allows the engine to gasp more air and I also know that more O2 means more power. However, isn't it also true that I need modify my exhaust in order to let that extra air out efficiently? I am not an expert in the field, but am I correct in logically assuming that more air in means more air has to come out? Here, I have two specific questions...First, is it worth putting on a STILLEN intake even though I do NOT plan to have the exhaust modified (it is stock)??? Second, can having a STILLEN intake without exhaust mods cause any sort of damage to the engine in the long run? Perhaps damage other components? Any help would be appriciated! Thanks
damage will not be done to the engine
you will see better mpg
you will see better torque
you will see better horsepower
*****get a frankencar intake, it is chaeper and better from what i have heard, also try ebay for a cold air intake (which are the best kinds) w/ a K&N filter for 80 bux
*****stillen is EXPENSIVE

no exhaust mod?
Why do you plan not to change your exhaust? If you were willing to go stillen, then spend 160 on a budget ypipe then 30 on a ebay intake. If you are worried about the exhaust making a lot more noise after adding a ypipe, then you have nothing to worry about because it gets deeper a little and just a tad bit louder. Getting an aftermarket exhaust with a ypipe is very loud, but just a ypipe and stock exhaust is very acceptable, if not, unnoticeable. Go with a ypipe
If you are worried about the ypipe damageing your car, then mine and 70% of people's car on this site that have a ypipe will have broken down already. It's the best 160 you will ever spend.

I'd go with anything else before I'd go with Stillen. OVERPRICED!!!
