I performed the self diagnostic test for my check eng light. The code it gave me was 0215 which was not defined in vbmaxima's decoder. I did this several times and it gave me the same code. My ecu was different from the pictures on the web page. I can adjust my idle through my ecu. Anyone with a 99 maxima encountered this problem?

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks Jamsan..... Can you tell me where you found this info? Do you know if this is serious that I would have to take it to the dealer or can I do this myself. Do you know how much this is going to cost me to get fixed?

THanks,

Rob

Hayne's Manual....should pick one up...

I've never dealt with anything like this before, nor do I have any experience on cost, so I'm iffy in this area....if you wanna do it yourself

Check
-EVAP canister vent control valve
-EVAP control system pressure sensor and the circuit
-Blocked rubber tube to EVAP canister vent control valve
-Water seperator
-EVAP canister is saturated in water

1) Check Rubber tube for clogging. Check obstructed water seperator and rubber tube to EVAP canister vent control valve and clean the rubber tube using air blower... IF NG --> Clean, repair, or replace rubber tube and/or water seperator

2) Check EVAP canister vent control valve and O-Ring... IF NG---> Replace EVAP canister vent control valve and O-Ring

3) Evap Control pressure sensor - a) Check for disconnection of hose connected to the sensor. b) Check sensor harness connector for water. Water should NOT exist. if ok, 3) Check EVAP control system pressure sensor.... IF NG --> Repair or replace harness and/or connections or replace EVAP control system pressure sensor

I definitely need to pick a Haynes book up at the local auto store. I'm illiterate when it comes to mechanical terminologies. I don’t even know where the EVAP is and what its purpose is? I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Rob

Something to do with emissions I'd suppose...It's located by the rear left tire...get under and check it out....its a box with hoses coming out of it...

P.s. the info i gave you was in the FSM, not the Haynes manual...Only what the code stands for is in the Haynes

Can you please elaborate more on cleaning out the valve that is in front of my cylinder? I'm not sure which valve you are referring to and how about performing this procedure.
I agree regarding the search feature.

Thanks,

Rob

you'll see when you look at the cylinder. look under the driver's side rear wheel, there'll be a big rectangular box there, thats the cylinder. on the front of it, theres a small valve thats held by two screws, and i think it has either 1 or 2 hose connections, and 1 wire connection. just take off this valve, put some wd40 in it, and make sure you can blow air through it freely. just basically clean it out. that should take care of your ECU code.

I was going to take it to the dealer this week to have it looked at but thankfully I have you guys helping me. I'll try cleaning it out this weekend and hopefully it will take care of my ck eng light, of course i'll have to reset it.

Thanks for all your help... Sorry if this has been reiterated numerous times within the past month.
