They tell you that you have a bunch of stuff wrong with your car and it will cost $20 for parts and $578 for labor.

LOL!

Well yeah thats the obvious! but do they also say 'your insert component here are ok, but your insert different component here need to be replaced. I'm just wondering if they'll tell me what is in good working order on my car. I've only had it about a month and don't know its past history (87k miles on it when purchased). This is obviously in addition to them telling me what isn't working properly and will need to be replaced (and thats when i say ok thanks for the free diagnostic, ill do it myself) and then drive home.

They won't let you leave without spending $200 for an air filter.

I know previous members haven't had great exeperiences with these type of things...One guy went in knowing there was some problem, but they mentioned nothing of that problem....They will probably also recommend you fix other things that are most likely not broken...However, next time I receive the letter in the mail, I'll be sure to bring it in, and see what they say

That happened to me. I went in there with KNOWN problems. They got some and missed some. They did not try too hard to sell me on the repairs because I already had estimates from other shops. In the end, it was worth it b/c they checked some brake and tranny issues and got those major things right. They also puklled my plugs and said that they were great (I had JUST changed them) but they missed my belts. I would go back for diagnostic work but not for repairs, unless I was despirate. I at least found out that they were not going to make up phantom problems...
