SUCCESS!!!! (kinda long, but somewhat interesting :)

I think I FINALLY fixed my car...

for those who know, my car has been experiencing issues for over a
year...My fuel economy has gone to hell...My car would shudder while
I drove...Actually, my car would even DIE as I drove (quite scary
sometimes!)

So, the dealer said "Torque Converter, 100%", and "$2000" and I said
"DO NOT TOUCH MY CAR"

Ok, so after MONTHS of researching and trying out different things, I
came to the conclusion that there was a wiring issue -- I could
literally give my wiring harness a gentle tug and the car would shut
off!!!

So, I took it in today, and I had 2 broken wires in the never-opened
wiring harness repaired -- these wires were connected to my MAFS...

Hopefully, this will be the end of all my Maxima worries

There's also a TSB on this issue, so, that also helped me figure this
out...Basically, over time, the wiring corrodes near the passenger-
side strut tower where the wires bend into the firewall.

This is definitely a load off my back!!!

I'm trying to help people who might have similar problems
with their car (which, I thought was the purpose of community)
and you go ahead and post that.

where did you have the wires repaired? Does it fall under Nissan warranty? I'm having VERY strange issues with my car as well as of late, I didn't think about wiring at all... My car's idle is not stable when cold, and often the engine just dies when I come to a stop. Dealer today told me it's a common problem and that fuel injectors need to be cleaned (for $250 or so) but my pals said that's BS and that the fuel injectors should be self-cleaning. Argh. Damn dealers!

First, I had my wires repaired at an electrical place...mind you,
I told them what needed to be done -- figuring this out took MONTHS!!!

Ok, on to your issue...

My first guess is your Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor -- I've had to
replace that myself, as have a number of others...It is EXTREMELY
EASY to replace yourself.

But, if you don't have any codes pop-up, then I'm not 100% that's
your issue.

It looks like it could also be a dirty Throttle Body -- which you
can clean yourself...This one is worth doing even if it's not the
issue (unless your car has really low mileage).

I don't buy the "clean the injectors" story...

Describe your problem more in full, and maybe I can help some more.

hope this helps,
