Ignition Coils Replacement Question

Ok so i have a beautiful 99 SE and i probably have a faulty ignition coil since i got a Cylinder 4 Misfire ECU code.

now i cruised over to the consumer nissan parts website. and i found the coils replacement page and here is what it lists:

DOHC Hanshin LH 1 of 3
Ignition Coil 22448-31U06 1

DOHC Hanshin RH 1 of 3
Ignition Coil 22448-31U01 1

DOHC Mitsubishi LH 1 of 3
Ignition Coil 22448-31U16 1

DOHC Mitsubishi RH 1 of 3
Ignition Coil 22448-31U11 1

Now which are the better coils? the Hanshin or the Mitsubishi?
Also which are the LH coils -- the front (under plastic spark plug cover) coils or the back (closer to firewall)? i've been wondering about this for a while and i'm sure other owners can benefit from this as well

thanks!

Re: Ignition Coils Replacement Question

Just replaced a second coil in my 99 SE yesterday. I had the Hanshin coils and just replaced tht part...not sure if that was dumb or not. Anyway, I replaced the #6 cylinder ignition coil with the P#22448-31U06-1 part. This should be the same one you are looking for, as the "even" numbered cylinders are the ones under the plastic cover.

The "left side" coils are under the plastic cover & the "right side" are therefore closer to the firewall.

Hope this helps.

Why are 99 coil packs failing so often? What brand comes stock, Haishin or Mitsu? Also, are you all replacing these out of pocket or by Nissan as part of a TSB?

haha thats funny I have a 99sel and just ordered three right coil packs. Two mecahnics wanted 100 bucks just to read the codes, so I cant see which cyl is misfiring so..I will replace the back three and hope for the best. Autozone could only read a p1320 code which is ignition primary failure.

My car's idle stutters by about 100 RPM at idle and I feel a small jerk...

Also I get a quiet click sometimes when I floor the car.

Does this sounds like a faulty ignition coil?
