Who makes it?
Where can I get it cheapest? How much?
Have you done one on an automatic?
Was it hard?

Re: Udp

There are at least 3 makers. Check the group deal forum. I believe there is a deal going on right now from one of the manufacturers. You're looking at 80-200 dollars. Depending on maker. Yes, it works on automatics. It's just harder to get the crank bolt off on them. Best to have air tools or a professional install it for you if you're an auto.

$75 shipped??? How do I get one?

Also, I know it can be done on an auto.
But has anyone done it themselves? I'm a pretty decent DIY'er
so I'm wondering if there are any major issues I should be
aware of.

Just call them and tell them you want the maxima.org group deal price and they'll hook it up. Their install instructions are pretty good but I haven't done mine yet so I can't say fo' sheezy. You will probably have to buy different sized belts though.

I did it on my auto. All you have to do to remove the pulley bolt is, from under the car, put the appropriate size socket on a 1/2" breaker bar on the bolt with the end of the bar facing forward and touching the ground. You may have to slip a cheater pipe on the breaker bar handle so that it contacts the ground. Bump the engine over with ignition key. DO NOT START THE ENGINE. The starter makes more than enough torque to loosen the bolt.

Don't forget to change the oil seal when you install the UDP; it's cheap insurance against leaks.

So just turn the key a little?

Stupid question (maybe).
Since I'm swapping a seal would I need to drain the oil?

Just trying to figure out the timing on when I should do the job, IOW wait till next oil change.

You turn the key the same distance as if you were going to start it, it's the length of time you hold it in the start position that is different. At the first indication that the starter has engaged and has turned the engine for a fraction of a second, you turn the key back.

It sounds more complicated than it is. You can practice bumping the starter now or anytime before you do it for the bolt removal.

You won't lose any oil when you change the seal.

i just got a RVM UDP, and have had problems starting my car. i was getting a 4-7 code which is the crank position sensor. sometimes my car would start up and sometimes it wouldn't. i had to have my car towed home yesterday. i took off the UDP and checked the ring. turns out my timing ring does not match up with my stock pulley. the double tabs are out of phase. has anyone else had the same problem. hope to get a new ring from RVM since that's the only problem.

New size belts?

Will the UDP from rvmracing.com require different size belts than what are OEM? I was just going to buy the pulley and a new set of belts from nissan, but maybe I shouldn't get those belts??

Is it worth it, anyone have any track time differences, or raced the same car with it off and then with it on?
