TRENZ grille and painting...

I was thinking of doing something rather unique for my maxima: getting a trenz grill and painting it to match the body color of my car (Sterling Mist)... is the trenz grill hard to paint? I know its polished, just curious...

shouldnt be hard if you sand it lightly, spray a metal primer and then use paint

Next question: is Sterling Mist paint hard to get thru Nissan? is it expensive/cheap?

i am sure if sanded down you could paint it, but make sure its a good job, otherwise the aluminum will show thru and look like $hit!

i already did this project once..

i painted the lower trenz grill black..

it looked great until i drove the car.. any road debrie that hit the grill chipped the paint..

you have to get the grill powdercoated.

i was going to get the upper and lower trenz grills powdercoated gunmetal to match my rims... but gecided to go a different route..

Probably not worth it. Chips ahoy will be on your grille.

Getting a TRENZ grill isn't unique. Every one with 20" wheels has one. Oh, and they come stock on Escalades...

I agree w/jeff powdercoating it is the only way to go..the paint won't hold up to chips...

i dont know.. i've had my trenz grill for almost a year now, driven it to Atlanta and back and Miami and back from D.C. area and there is only one chip (hardly noticable).. i would have left it chrome except i bought it used $50 and it was painted blue.. i didnt have the money to paint it the pearly color professionally so i did it on my own with some spray paint primer and about 10 coats of white and 10 coats of clear spray paint.. came out lookin all right.. check it out..

powdercoating can only be done to metal of aluminum not plastic....it will melt powdercoating is like baking it on.....or chrome dipping...

your only option is to buy a brand new one or a good condition used one...

Perhaps you didn't see the "unique" part of this:

getting a trenz grill and painting it to match the body color of my car (Sterling Mist)...
