Raybestos Quiet stop part numbers

After I posted a while ago about brake pads, I think I'll be going with the Raybestos QS. Now to part numbers. From their website I get D653 for the generic fronts, and if I remember rightly from another post the rear pads were PGD540QS.

So I'm guessing:
Front: PGD653QS
Back : PGD540QS

Can anyone confirm? Has anyone bought these online? I'm having trouble finding them here in Canada.

I went to the local Advance Auto parts store, and they didn't have Raybestos Quiet Stops listed for the Maxima. What Raybestos DID have, were listed as 'IQ' for Import Quiet.

They fronts were part #MKD430IQ and cost $36.22

I guess they are the same thing... Who knows, but they work just fine.

The 'generic' pads cost around $18

Good Luck!

Yeah, I was led to believe ths same after I spent hours on the net yesterday trying to find some info. What I wrote above came from this thread where "sislen" listed a part number for his rear brake pads. Guess I'll keep lookin for now.

Don't buy the generic pads for $18. You get for what you pay for. They will squeak until you replace them with better pads.

I'm sorry, the part number I quoted above was for BENDIX line of quiet brake pads. Duh!

They are still good pads, as Bendix is a leader in the field.

Good Luck!

You are correct on the part numbers, I had the Raybestos QS installed on my 99 Maxima SE about a year ago.

Front Pads: PGD653QS
Back Pads : PGD540QS

Your guess is correct. Try WWW.Rockauto.com for 25% less than Pep Boys price

Thanks. It was proving a real pain finding these online until now. Great prices on those too.

I didn't notice this thread until just now, so its prolly too late, but... I recently installed quiet stops with my drilled/slotted rotors and it seems the pads dont take heat very well. I noticed some pretty bad brake fade after they heat up. I had to stop pretty hard today because of a backup at a light around somewhat of a long blind curve, and by the end of it, my pads were cooked. Granted this was an 80 - 0 stop, down a hill, after the fact that my brakes were already heated up from normal driving. I really wish I had went with some EBC green stuffs... on the bright side though... no squeaks. ever.

I hope that this is not the typical user opinion of the Quiet Stops. I read through quite a few threads about brake pads and fade was never mentioned. Why the hell can't we get a complete evaluation of the brake pads out there?

I currently have the Axiss Metal Masters are the best pads I've ever had and they grab like a girl's ... Anyway, unfortunately the Metal Masters are dusty, initially squeaky as hell. Eventually the squeaking does stop. Now need to replace them after just one year. I wonder if my Power Stop slotted rotors caused the pads to die so soon?

I'm going to ask in a new thread if anyone has seen a magazine article comparing brake pads. I'll link it in if there is a positive response.

It isn't typical, and judging from the situation that was still in a break-in period. I don't personally evaluate brakes until over 1000 miles are on them.

Fade complaints with the quiet stops really haven't been mentioned much on the forums.

Yes. Slotted rotors chew up pads, no matter what kind they are. That's why buying a good set of Brembo-OEM blank rotors is much better than pouring money in to slotted or cross-drilled rotors that can never be turned. It would be wiser to simply cryo treat new blank rotors.
