y-pipe for New Yorkers

What did you do to pass the emission test for New Yorker?

Which y-pipe are you using? Thanks.

hey -- I'm not from NY, but a Y-pipe is a Y-pipe is a Y-pipe...
As far as I know, all Ys are basically just metal tubes that let
air flow through...So, I don't think brand matters -- you'll still
be removing the pre-cats.

Mind you, the pre-cats are only affective when the car is cold, so
when you go for emmissions, just make sure you're nice and warmed up!

if by "regulate" you mean "clean", then it does...how, well, I dunno.

What is a Pre-cat you ask?? Well, it is put at the start of the exhaust system to function for "cold-start emissions." As such it is smaller than the main catalytic converter and thus heats up more rapidly to become active first with regards to catalyzing the exhaust gases.

Is any of you guys that have replaced their stock y-pipe willing to sell the original? My stock is going to break at the flex section at any moment and also I don't want to take risks with the emission tests, so I would like to buy OEM.

I passed with my stock - rusting/leaking flex - and then got a stillen and passed, not even warming up, got in and drove to the shop around the block. Stillen is a bit noisier than stock, just to let you know...

Passed 2 inspections no problem on topspeed pro y-pipe. You don't need to warm up your car either, if your car is newer than '96, all they do is put you on a computer to see if you have any check engine codes. If you don't (with an aftermarket y-pipe you won't) you're good to go as far as emissions.
