rattle inside while engine running...

so i pull in from work and as im going to turn off the engine i hear a light rattling noise which at first i thought was the engine. i popped the hood and the engine is running fine, no noise. so i sit back down and listen and lightly rev engine and it sounds more like something is loose on drivers side, or a loose exhaust flange???. i've been noticing a light clunking noise while driving down the road and the drivers side spring isolater was crooked and is probably hitting metal to metal a little. something is def. loose and getting worse, any ideas or help would be appreciated. thanks>>>>

Do you have a CAI? because i had the same issue and it turned out my intake was knocking against the battery.

lol, thanks but sadly all stock on the exhaust for now. im thinkin like a loose exhaust piece and/or a mount???? i had the tranny done and replaced the trans mount as well as the front motor mount. something lightly rattles if i park on even a small hill, i can hear it when i put my ear to the drivers side floor. but the engine is quiet so its def something loose behind the block. its like a very quiet little rattle, driving me nuts!!!!!

check on the heat shields, in this case particularly the cat heat shield. it could have come loose (very common) which would lead to rattling, knocking, clunking that can be hard to pinpoint. happened to my shield by the b pipe/resonator so i just ripped it off. i'm waiting for the cat heat shield to start acting up too so I can just get under there and rip it off too

ummmmm, rattling is coming from the FRONT DRIVERS SIDE, plus the cat heat sheild fell off 2 years ago. still, im replacing the y-pipe and cat soon, i have a warpspeed set up im gonna install. i cant wait to get a newer max, which i will next year. o3 dark blue with the 3.5. i cant wait.

that's why I said exhaust noises can be hard to pinpoint. I had a noise that sounded like a can of marbles being shaken around under my front driver's side. It turned out to be the cat hangar that the ******** used who installed my Budget Y and cat... it failed like a month after... and they charged me $70, just for that part!! it's good that your shield is already gone, that's one less thing to worry about

its true the cat shield was the first thing to start rotting, and making noise. I just took it off.
