having big problems installing ebay CAI

I bought a CAI off ebay, came with no instructions, ok simple enough. YEA RIGHT, nothing lines up, the tube does not fit at all with mass air flo sensor on , its to long, i cut a hole but it is still to long, is the filter supposed to sit on the inside of the wheel well by the tire? wont it get wet? I desperately need help, i gave up for today just left tube from TB to Mass air then filter straight to mass air, what can i do?

Yes, the filter should be seated in the fender well when all is said and done... This is the reason why I don't trust ebay for car parts... your best bet would have been to go to custommaxima.com and order the PR CAI...

I'm sure if you look around (probably maximadriver.com), you might be able to find a template to make sure you cut the right hole in the fender well... if you wanna be creative, get a metal saw, and hack away until it fits!

Um, if I were you, I might have avoided cutting anything before verifying fitment, but I guess I'm only telling you what you already know at this point.

Ok, maybe a dumb suggestion, but have you tried contacting the seller?

Most Place Racing "style" CAI's have the filter located forward of the wheelwell, between the wheelwell liner and the front bumper cover. You need to remove the wheelwell liner to complete the installation and drill a hole for the tube to pass through if it is this type.

(Maybe u could post the Ebay link for the unit you purchased so people here have a better idea what you're looking at?)

There are a variety of CAI install how-to's out there on the web if you search around a little - some links within maxima.org as well.

(Could someone here post a specific link for him?) -Sorry, I don't have a CAI, so I don't know the links.

Good luck!

it should fit fine if you find the right set of directions or have experience with how it should be setup in the engine bay. look on maximadriver.com and try it again. good luck

did u get the $49.99 no brand one or $75+ BOMz racing?

i got BOMz racing with K&N, me and my friend worked on it WITHOUT any instruction, simply take out the stock intake system (10 minutes) job, trim a 6" square (no template), it was hella big so the midpipe was really easy to get thru, connect PCVs pipe, secure it with hoses, throw the MAF into the midpipe, jack up the car, stick the K&N underneath, done.

don't worry about damagin the stock frame, it's nothin but an empty space ready for ur K&N to dropped in, and for the MAF jus stick it into the midpipe.

car has been runnin smooth and throttle response is awesome =)
