Serious decision to make about my maxima!

Ok well its not THAT serious, but I gotta decide and I need help! I'll be on vacation for a week or 2 in the beginning of June and want to do some work on the car. I got a Ypipe planned so far, but will only have enough money for new wheels/tires OR springs/struts! I can't do both of those! Right now I'm riding on 15" GXE hubcaps (on a 97SE! go figure =/ ). If I get wheels, it'll look 4x4, but if i lower it 1.5"-2" and keep hubcaps on 15" wheels It'll look....well...you know. Eventually I'll do the other of the two, but probably not until the end of the year or close to it. If I got the suspension upgrade, I'd probably go with KYB AGX's (if i can find them for around $300) and springs for around 150-200...still haven't decided on 1.5" eibachs or 2" sprints (or maybe maxspeeds, theyre so cheap!). I live in boston so 1.5" is tempting due to potholes.
If I got wheels, I'd get 17" 6 or 7 spokes. I'd like a set of 5th gen SE wheels, but if I can't find a good deal on those, then I'll get aftermarkts with the same style.

Any suggestions on which of the two mods to do first (and then the other about 6 months later)?
Thanks!

Go for the wheels. If you get it lowered, down drive down Mass Ave, Comm Ave, any of 93, Dot Ave, blue Hill Ave, Boylston, Beacon... wait, scatch that. Just move to Weston where it's safe to drive lowered.

Any major city in Massachusetts (Boston, Worcester etc.) is riddled with potholes that have been there since the Revolutionary War. They were put there by Bostonians so that advancing British troops would fall into them and ruin their shins and knees.

HAHAHAHA thats the best reason I've heard for the holes yet! It's so true too! I think I jerk the wheel more times to avoid potholes and bumps (lame fixes) than anything else. Living here is great, but this city wasn't designed with cars in mind. I.E. intersection from Storrow onto Rt. 2. Theres about 9 roads going in 5 directions with no signs. Then theres the BIG DIG. And on top of these things (or rather IN THEM) is potholes!
