Please help both me and a friend are hving this annoying high pitched beep come on every now and then when we turn our directional on... it doesnt happen all the time .. it sounds like its comming from behind the guagesor under the steering wheel..


any one know what this beep is and how to stop it?

seeing that i am hearing this on 2 different maximas i was hoping someone would know what it is and how to fix it

ok.. lets see if this helps any one to andwer my question.

It doesnt happen often and when it does i am usaually stoped at red light waiting to turn.. but today on my way to work i was in the parking lot and turned the directional to turn into the spot and becuase no one was there (safty first) i get out and stick my head under the dash and it sounds like its comming from the little speaker that tells you your headlights are on when you shut off your car and take the key out. but alot quieter and higher pitched sound.. could it be a short or is this a normal thing? this also happens in a 99 GLE, so 96GXE and a 99 GLE having the same problem cant be just a coincidence.

does it beep with the directional?? what about headlights and stuff??

only with the directional and it seems to be more often with the left directional. but it does happen when i use the right directional.. the messed thing is it doesnt happen all the time.

i dont have anything that tells me my headlights are on....

if you pull the plactic cover off under the steering wheel there is a little white box attached to the cover both the 99gle and my 96GXE have it you might not have it plugged in.

I thought all maximas have this box. maybe i am wrong
