Turns on a signal from it when you hit a certain RPM, which actuates a vacuum solenoid, which then uses the vacuum to pull the actuator on the VI, thereby opening the butterfly flaps.

I was just wondering, for that switch, do you just turn it on when you are about to start racing or do you have to turn it on at a certain rpm?

The RPM switch plugs into a coil wire, and reads what RPM you are at.

WHen you hit the sset RPM, the switch turns on.

Hey guys, I have a few questions about the MEVI, forgive me if these have been answered elsewhere:

It appears that an MEVI increases high-end power; does this cause any change (good? bad?) in low end power as well?

Does it make sense to get an MEVI if you don't get a new ECU? I'm not so hot on the idea of reving the engine past 6500 rpms.

Does the MEVI cause any increase in general engine/transmission stresses? My car as quite a few miles on it, and I want to increase the breathing without straining it any more.

What is the best intake to use with an MEVI?

Does anyone have a Dyno chart for a Max with an MEVI?

Thanks.

There is a loss of it looks like an average of 5tq in the low-end, but I myself and others consider this a small price for the top end gains. (See Dyno Chart in link above)

As this is sold as a stock part in other countries, and it's a NA Mod, I doubt it causes any engine/tranny stresses the car can't handle.

I don't have an ECU - I have a MEVI - I'm not only a member - I'm also the president! - Seriously - If you expect huge gains in the 1/4 mile and that is the only reason you are thinking of buying the MEVI, then some people say you shouldn't but the MEVI.

But the truth is that some people have shown gains, some have not - but noone has lost any amount of negligable time.

If you want it for freeway and street daily driving, then it's one of the best bolt-on mods you could have.

As for Intake - the best one to have is a SuperCharger

(Seriously - some people have done well with PR CAI's and Frankencar Intakes.)

See my page above for Dyno charts, information, and such.

Be aware the Dynos on my page are ONLY with the MEVI not activating and with it activating....not with the stock manifold and with the MEVI Manifold. Search around a little on current posts in the 4th gen Forums and there should be a couple that have been discussed in the last day or two.
