Does the tranny do this normally?

Hey guys I'm a autotragic driver :-\, and when the car is relatively cold (not the engine) the tranny kinda slight kicks or you could say jolts into second gear from very slight or mild acceleration, but the shifts from second to thrid are real smooth, however as the tranny gets warmer hence driving the car much longer it doesn't seem to jolt as much, is this normal? Is this why it's call a Slush-o-matic, or autotragic?

it sounds kinda normal due to the engine being cold ... is there any physical jerking of the car or are they just rough shifts?

What do you mean by physical jerking? Rough shifts yeah they are rought shifts from 1-2, not as smooth as it is from 2-3, even when the engine is warm it does this but hence the engine warms up a lot faster, and I mean a lot faster than say my tranny does. I'm guessing it's just from the tranny being cold.

Yeah, mine jerks too - It's not that bad but when it's 40 degrees and I start driving to work it does jerk just a little bit from 1st to 2nd.

Thats normal behavior for your tranny when it's cold. You can thank Nissan for that.

Try switching over the synthetic Amsoil tranny fluid, it makes the cold shifts as well as the warm shifts much smoother.

For a complete tranny flush, your looking at 10 quarts and it's expensive. Might run you 80 bucks or so.

Don't worry about it; before the engine and trans have warmed up it tends to be a little rough from 1-2. After it's up to operating temperaure, you're smoooooooth as silk. I just drive it real easy (under 2500 RPMs) until it's all warmed up, then I'm good to go.
