FSTB hitting a pipe?
FSTB hitting a pipe?
I just installed a FSTB in my 99 GXE, and the mount (not the bar, but the mount on the end) on the passenger side hits some sort of pipe. Picture here: http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...page_id=334816 (scroll down to the end). Any clue what that is? Anything to worry about? The pipe seems to be somewhat flexibly mounted, with a bendy metal bracket and a rubber bushing, so it's not like there's a lot of force between the bar and the pipe, but still....

Thats the A/C Condenser Piping, what you want to do, which is what I did was that there is a bracket holding up the pipe rigt underneathe the FSTB. Loosen it up and sort of push the piping down a bit and tighten up the bracket. It helped mine have some space.
I tried messing with the screws on the AC pipe mount like gtr_rider suggested, but couldn't really get any clearance that way. Then I put a washer between the body and the mounting for the AC pipe and it got a little better. Still touched, but not as much force. Finally, I said scruit and used like a hose clamp thing to pull the AC piping more towards the center of the car (and away from the fstb mount). A long ziptie would probably work equally well, but the ones I had weren't long enough. I'll probably still keep an eye on it though, I don't want to start spewing AC coolant while I'm driving down the highway...
