Hey guys, I now own a '95 SE 5spd. Man the VQ is smooth, much better than my old VE. Here's the deal...when I bought the car I wasn't given the orignal keys and Im wondering if my car came with remote entry. How can I tell? A Nissan dealership said you can't but that's b.s. My car came with powerseats, sunroof, alarm(yes, it has a little red blinking light on the leftside of the dash), and gold accents around the car. How do I tell? Thanks

if it has the alarm then my thinking would be that it had to come with keyless entry , just because of the alarm. anyone else with ideas ?

1996 GLE

I have same question.
Did 1996 GLE come standard with keyless entry?
I didn't get the original key.

The GLEs did come with the alarm, which may have had a delete option. Get a remote from someone that has a Maxima and program it to your car, at least see if it works. If it works, get yourself a remote (they are always selling on E-Bay) and reporgram.

I had the same prob and here is how I did it.

Remove the carpeting and plastic trim inside the truck by the latch. Look for a big brown connector (square) and see if its plugged into anything. If it's taped up then you don't havwe keyless entry - if its plugged into another square thing thats mounted to the car itself - then you have it.

I wasn't going to pay $110 for a new remote and I was too impatient to get one from an online auction (you can get one from ebay for 20 - 30 bucks) so I went back to the place that sold me the car and talked to the mechanic - he had a ziplock bag full of remotes and gave me one - no charge. (make sure it has buttons for lock, unlock, panic and truck. Not all Nissan remotes do)

To learn how to program the new remote - go here - http://web2.airmail.net/scutchen/max_faq/

Click on Maintenance then on keyless entry.

Good luck!

remote

Unless your car was basic...no options such as power seat, sunroof, varispeed intermitent wipers, your car has the keyless entry.

But how do you add keyless?

I know that I do not have keyless, but would like to add it. Is this just a "plug-and-play" installation?

My friend has a 98 Altima and it didn't come with the remote also.... but he added it to his car, The Nissan dealer sells them for like $40-$50 bucks. Well atleast in Georgia that's what they was going for.. Pretty easy to install also took us like a hour give or take..
