HID users... please read!!!

I just installed my 9004 HID kit and I found that in normal low beam as well as high beam position, my high beam indicator is always on on my dash. Am I supposed to only have 1 setting in my headlights when I get HIDs??? What could be wrong here?

Do you guys who have 9004 HIDs have both low beams and high beams?

Do I have to flip the polarity? It says that if I have a negative current that I should flip the polarity and if I have a positive current then I leave it as it is. Any ideas?

Where did you buy the kit?, there are not many hi/low HID kits available for 9004s. There is one linked in the general maxima discussion forum, which seems quite nice, and then there are ones with a moveable shield, which suck because they will break after time. Most likely if you paid under 500$, you only have one beam.

9004 HID probly uses the high beam to make them birght in the first place. Upgrade harness and get the REAL hid if u want both beams and a real HID to begin with.

The HID kit that I bought is from www.hidfactory.com. It says that it is the K2 HID kit. The ballast is Hella and the bulb is Japanese... boxed by Phillips.

Yup, I also had the same problem when I just installed my HID kit. My kit came with a separate wire that has a diode for the HighBeams. Is not so that u can have high and low beams, but just in case that you are driving and u flip the High/low beam switch, they won't go off then turn back on. If you don't have this little wire then your solution will be to just hook up the low beam wires to the positive of the HID's.

Huh??? I did buy real HIDs. But I wasn't aware that 9004 HID kits do not come with hi/low beams yet. You just get the one beam.

you have your brights up on your dash, on the stock harness there are three prongs, dont know which on it is, but one of the prongs on the left or right is the one that controls which beam you have the harness to the stock HIDS. so for say you have it on the right prong pull the wire and plug it to the left prong. Dont mess with the center prong at all. Hope that helps and shut off your brights to get that blue light off your dash

on your oem plug (4th gen) you have 3 wires:

the black wire is ground (neg)

the wire in the middle is your low-beam (power)

the last wire is your hi-beam (power)

if you only have low-beam hids you have to make sure that the hi-beam wire is not conn to the new harness in the kit that conn to the oem harness.

in other words make sure you don't conn your hi-beam wire.

hopes this helps

Yep I know what you mean. But that would also mean that if I ever flipped to the HIDs my lights would turn off.

........

Now that I think about it, I guess that is a good thing so that I actually have the ability to flash someone in case of an emergency or whatever.

I was looking for a way to make the light stay on the same whether I flipped to high beams or not. But this way sounds much better.

Thanks dude, I'll try that.
