exhaust question

I was thinking about getting the straight pipe cat, using the stock
B-pipe, and getting an aftermarket muffler such as stillen. Any Ideas or comments?.......will aftermarket y-pipe pass emissions?

Your y-pipe will allow you to pass emissions but NOT with a straight pipe obviously. Use anti-seize on your bolts so you can easily swap out your staight pipe for a real cat for you emissions test.

That said, I don't think a straight pipe is worth it because (1) performance gain is neglibile and (2) absolutely crappy for the environment (& that's coming from a NON-tree hugger)

emmisions

thanks, but i was wondering, you guys said it will pass 98% of the time, while other threads say they are not street legal as does the stillen website. I live in new york if it makes a difference and i was now thinking of doing a budget Y-pipe, stock cat, stock B-pipe, and new muffler.

The "98%" refers to the ability for folks to pass the emissions tests with the prescribed emissions limits for pollutants like HC, NOx, etc.

The issue of legality probably refers to state laws requiring cars to have pre-cats to scrub out the pollutants on start-up of the car.
