What Shocks to get?

Hi, I have a Maxima SE 1999. Currently using the original shocks that came with it. A local mechanic did a check up and saw some liquid leaking from the back two shocks. He said its time to change those two. Should I take his advice and change it or keep driving with them? What brand is good to get beside the original one from the dealer? I want some aftermarket shocks that give me a smoother ride. I dont care about the rest. Thanks

Go aftermarket all around if you do decide to go that route.

Tokico Blue performance struts and shocks. Do all 4 at the same time. Your car will ride nice and smooth, better then new.

Anything by KYB will give you a very firm sports car ride.

Tokico makes good stuff if your looking to keep your car at stock ride height and make it ride very smooth, like new again. Thats definately the way to go.

Your mechanic didn't have a squirt gun loaded with oil in his back pocket, did he?? Very unusual for both shocks to leak at same time when only a few years old, unless used in extreme conditions or factory defective. Get another opinion.
