Any clutch experts?

Ive been having probs w/ the clutch slipping after intense use (autocross, etc) esp. after shifting while maintaining high RPMs. It really doesnt like engaging first while rolling backward.

The clutch is new though!
Someone said that the flywheel might be to blame and this kinda makes sense, since when the clutch got put in they said they were just barely able to resurface the flywheel because it was in bad shape.

Stock clutch parts? If you bake it, the stock clutch will start slipping under heavy load.

And why would you want to engage first while rolling backward? Of course it'd be hard to engage.,..

Bake it meaning high-rpm shifting? Anything else as well?

Sometimes I want to engage 1st juuust as Im slowing to zero from reverse. At least in autocross when I go off course!
The couple times ive done this the clutch is really dysfunctional for a few minutes. Slips quite easily right out of 2nd under WOT. The clutch is definately not helping my 0-60 times either.

I'm just saying the stock clutch probably isn't your best bet for extended racing and beating. There's got to be 4 other better brands out there with much stronger grip...

If you must shift into 1st while rolling backwards, I'm thinking a quick double-clutch might help a bit (Clutch in-neutral-clutch out-clutch in - 1st - clutch out) But... I've never tried it either...

Yea, not trying to sound snitty. I cant wait to replace it with a performance clutch. Thanks for the suggestion on the double clutch.

The first clutch started slipping 1/4 of the way through the autocross season. Figured a new one would be fine since the first one was great for 85K. Maybe its just too much for the stock eqpt.

think replacing the flywheel is a good idea? Im leaning that way now when I upgrade in a few months.
