Stuttering Idle

My idle in my 99 Max sort of stutters. The RPMs bounce downward by about 100 rpm and I feel it shake the whole car. Sometimes its there and sometimes it isn't.

Any ideas?

Why are you on my ignore list

Anyway does it happen often? My car has done this twice, it only happens when I let off the key (turning it to engage igniiton) to early, the car will stutter then die. After this I will try it again and everything is fine, does this sound like your symptoms?

Try a few things first:
- Clean / Replace your air filter
- Clean your throttle body: http://www.motorvate.ca/
- Search for info on IACV (Idle Air Control Valve), this might need some adjusting or cleaning.

I had the same problem and once I cleaned my very dirty intake, and cleaned my throttle body the problem went away. That was over a year ago and it hasn't come back.

Is your check engine light on?

Better yet, is it working? (comes on when the key is turned)

I ahve this exact or very similar problem..on applying the brake sometimes mine shoots down to almost zero then pops back up. BUt it is still low, I changed my plugs about 3 months ago with NGK Platinum plugs. But I can feel it in my steering wheel also.

And why are you on my ignore list also? Although I just checked and I ahve nobody on my list...weird.

I'm on my OWN ignore list for some reason!!! I can't see my own posts or go into my profile...!!

I just changed my plugs and it helped a bit I think but it still happens. The problem is not yet solved.

Any more ideas?
