My POOR POOR MAX!!!!

So im driving home on 70 back home from college when i come over a hill and traffic is stopped. So i slam on my brakes and just when i realize i am not going to hit the car in front of me i look in my rearview mirror adn see this piece of **** comming at me. I have no time to react before he slams into the back of my max. The worst part of it is that it was an 84 camaro: piece of ****!!! adn the dude didnt' even appologize. To top off my day, the highway patroll officer gives me all this crap about whether or not i have drugs in the car for NO REASON!!! WHATTHEHELL!!! and he writes me a ticket for haveing an expired insurance card. So now my trunk, rear quarter pannels, and bumper are all toast adn i can't drive my max. any ideas about the probability of it being totalled? Its a 97 gle w/ 104000 in perfect condition. Im sorry this is so long, im just venting!!!

Long live the Maxima,
Sam

I doubt it would be totalled, but then again I can't see the damage for myself

Try taking some pics so we can see.

i dont know man, when i totaled my 96' max, i thought the damage would be around 4k, but the insurance guy said that he stopped counting damages after 11k

but it all worked out, now i have a 97' and the insurance comp. gave me 4.5k more than i paid for the 96'

i think the average numbers are, if there is more than 70% of damage costs of the over all cars worth, then its a total
good luck

So do you have insurance or not? If you just didn't have a current card handy, you can make that ticket go away by bringing proof of insurance at that time to the prosecutor.

If you didn't have insurance at the time of the accident then you should be in prison for 1 year in my opinion...

Life is expensive and unfair. Grow up...

If you can't cover all the costs of an accident you may cause with cash then you better have insurance to do so. Insurance is horribly expensive, but if you can't afford it then you certainly don't have that kind of cash to cover a screw-up, then you don't drive.

i usually pay off my insurance all at once at the beginning of the policy and don't have to worry about payments or cancellation notices for a year. it is definitely well worth the financial sacrifice.
as far as morons who drive uninsured i cover myself in my policy against them too.

so u HAVE insurance...
and the guy hit YOU from behind

so it should be his fault and pay you and all the damages no matter what..

if someone hits u from behind, its their fault...

but anyway, hopefully thats what the cop said and the other guy had insurance

and did the other guy get a ticket or anything?

sorry about ur car though man

I totally agree. I got rear ended at the stop light in my Eclipse, and the lady didn't even have a legit insurance card on her. Let alone, I had to nag the crap out of her because she wanted to pay out of her own pocket and not report it to the insurance company. I'm assuming she probably didn't have legit insurance because she was begging me not to contact them. I ended up only getting half of what the total estimate was from her to replace the foam cushion and repaint my bumper. I ended up buffing the scratches out (the best I could) and just dealing with a smashed foam absorber underneath the bumper shell. If she just had insurance to pay for the damages, it would have been so much easier.

You can be the most careful driver there is, but sometimes things are just unavoidable. That's why you need insurance.

You have a $500 deductible on your uninsured motorist coverage? What about suing the legal owner of the vehicle and the vehicle owner's insurance carrier? This should not come out of YOUR pocket!

Def. go after the bastard. If they own ANYTHING like a house or a car you can get a lein on it in a heartbeat.

The last drunken b!tch that pulled right out in front of me many years ago(with 3 little kids in the back) didn't have insurance and didn't own a thing. The cops really roughed her up though. That made me smile. I still made her life hell enough that she left the state.....
