Lost to a 03 Maxima SE auto stock....

I have a 96 SE 5speed with intake. this newer Max pulled up next to me at a red light. As soon as it went green we both launched hard. NO WHEEL SPIN FOR ME. That's a first, I always spin like crazy and wheel hop a little in first. very bad. So we're side by side the whole time through 1st gear. I shift to 2nd as fast as possible and that's when he started pulling HARD! He imediately gained two cars on me by the end of 2nd. As I hit 3rd, he switched into my lane to rub it in. *******! So we're goin 80mph and accelerating at WOT, him in front of me about 3-4 cars. Then he shut it down and we both slowed down.

WE pull over in a 711 and talk a bit. He has a 03 SE auto completely stock. He complimented the sound of the intake(Frankencar) and said his is in the mail. Then we leave and thats that.

Damn they are quick. I didn't expect to loose that bad. But then again I do have the CE light do to a bad knock sensor and the system is running too lean. So once I get that fixed, there's a rematch!

That's TWO races that you lost pretty handily... you're trashing the gen 4 name... especially the 95-96 name... hand yours in!

But you did pick on 2 heavyweights... 2003 Mustang GT and 2003 Maxima SE (although I wonder how fast the auto would be compared to you if you didn't have the CEL)

You need to get a Y pipe. Your freed up the air going in to your Maxima, now work on the exhaust coming out.

i think the sensor may play a bit of a roll here. although he has more tq, your 5speed and should have beat him off the line atleast. im sure once you get the sensor fixed it will be a drivers race, but giving the edge to the 03' still

You sure nothing is wrong with your Max, I raced an Auto 2k3 when my car was misfiring, (His Stock, Me Intake) and I only lost by about 3/4 a car, I was puling at first then he jumped infront of me, Did you search his Trunk for the Little Blue Bottle??

You'd need more than an intake and Y pipe to be an 03 SE. And the faster you race, the more you'd lose. Just the way it goes with 190 vs 255 hp.

190 VS 255 HP, I think you did good. you should try your maxima, not try to beat that guy. You need like some NOS or Turbo to Somoke him.

You should have killed the 89 celica gt. You've got a 6 cylinder and he's in a 4. I'm not too impressed by this kil

Re: not too excited about this kill

Yea something is definitely wrong with my car. I'm not the best driver yet, I've been driving stick for a month now and I got it down pretty well but can get much better, esp. with launching. Anyway the two races happened on the same night. The Mustang was later that night on my way home and I was really tired(4:30am). NO EXUSES, I lost fair and square.lol

PS: I also have a clogged up fuel filter and need new spark plugs. I have a new filter and NGK V-power plugs waiting to be installed. Also, I need a new knock sensor and one vacuum line is leaking air from my Frankencar. Once I do all this, I should feel a huge improvement in performance.

The matter over Gravity, which car you think is lighter. Maxima is fast but very heavy.

If he has a budget Y-pipe and intake then he's making around 214HP at the crank. His car also weighs 300lbs. less and has a lighter, more efficient manual tranny.

Something is wrong with your car. A clogged fuel filter and bad plugs can kill performance, and a bad knock sensor can REALLY kill performance. These are proven.

Get your car tuned up before you race anymore, then go out hunting again. If you really have these problems, then your car is going to perform much different when you get it fixed.

How many 4 door sedans the size of a Maxima weigh 3000-3100 lbs? The 4th gen is a featherweight.

02-03 are seriously 4th gen killers, i mean i raced cars and some slowly gain on me but i raced 3 02-03 maxima's in my life, not sure if auto or not but i always get owned to the 5th power, last run was after getting out of a toll.

I have intake, full piping except a CAT although i have subs in the back and 2k1 rims, i'm 5 speed, and i should not get my a$$ handed to me so badly by my younger brothers

Those 2K1 rims (17s, I presume?) are hurting you big time. They're heavy as hell.

another major reason why I lost is casue my 17" rims. They weigh 48 lbs each with my 225-45r-17 tires. That's 15 lbs more than stock sawblades.

I am getting my car fixed tomorrow.

HAPPY EASTER by the way!
