5th gen 6spd

Since the 5th gens are also a vq, would it be possible to put their 6spd tranny into out fourth gens? That'd be hot

been asked tons of times, and from what i remember the 5th gen tranny will not match up to the 4th gen engine. also, the 4th gen gearing is tuned for the 3.0vq... it wouldn't be worth it to swap... except to say you have a 6spd 4th gen.

i think a 2000 tranny would work on a 4th gen because they are basically the same engines except for the fact that the intake manifold is variable on the 2000 making the extra 25 or so horses....but what makes me curious is if a 2000 5 spd tranny would work on a 2k2 engine, just a thought

It should be feasibile, if a guy can take a Civic Tranny from a 5 Spd Si and swap it with the old old 4spd tranny and it works more than perfect, why not, The 2 motors are very close, and very simalar, It would probably cost a little but its well worth it in the long run, Max Speed increase by a lot

I know clee. But hey, I asked this same thing once. If I could search, I'd go find it. Anyways, I think it came down to a computer issue. Since the tranny is also controlled by the computer, meaning you'd need a 2K3 computer. But since the 2K3 computer is nowhere near the same as a 2K or 2K1 or any 4th gen, it would be damn near impossible. You got to remember that the 3.5's are drive by wire. Meaining the computer controls the throttle body etc. The only way I see it, is to swap the 3.5, the tranny and a complete wiring harness to go along with it. From there, the only thing that should cause you problems is overall dimensions and other minor stuff.

GOOD LUCK

David
