My trunk won't pop open.

My trunk won't pop open.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem? When I push the trunk release I hear a click but the lid won't pop open. Did anybody have this problem before? How do I fix it? I don't feel like taking it to the dealership and pay an arm and a leg to get it fixed. Thanks y'all.

if you look in the owners manual, there is a way to lock it and unlock it. make sure its in the unlocked mode, then try.
also, the rubber seal might just be sticking, so try pulling the trunk open (with little force) while hitting the release button.
i forget how to lock/unlock but its in the owners manual.

on my other car it did this one...
I sprayed Silicone Spray on the latch mechanism and the trunk pop worked again
it might just be stuck- spray some Silicone spray on it to lube it up

i had the same problem on my 96' GLE. it clicks when the button is pressed but it wont come up, no matter how hard u try. you put the key in and it wont turn?? if this is true, then heres what you do.
go into the back seat with a flashlight. open the middle part up and open the plastic hatch, so you can access the trunk from the back seat. you wont be able to fit, but use the flashlight and something else, (broomstick, hanger, etc...) and you will see a latch that is stuck in a certain position, press the button to open the trunk and you will see the latch slipping and wont engage, well take the instument of your choice and (knock, or pull) the latch the right way, and your problem is solved. happens kinda often, i think my backpack hit the latch one day and thats how mine got stuck.

That latch is a good thing. I had mine engaged when some punk(s?) broke into my car... it kept them from taking 2 amps, 2 CD changers, and my subwoofer box (they got the sub out of the box and pulled it thru the pass-thru). They sure did a job on my back seat though, tried to pull it out to get into the trunk.
