What I did was bend the metal of the connector of the harness on the section where the lower nub originally was. if you bend it outward enough, the nub will just be on the inside where the bulb is. I was going to cut the nub off, but i left my dremel at my friend's house. This way takes a lot less effort but works perfectly!

you can just cut the nub off with a nail clipper... it's really not hard

Wow...I can't believe it's that easy. Why does just cutting off that nib make them brighter though? Does anyone have a technical explanation for that?

Does the increased light intensity cause the bulb to burn out quicker too?

Why would you upgrade the fuse? I have not had a problem with any of my lights. This is the first I've heard of this but if it's advised I might just do that.

After that one screw you took out do you take off the whole corner?
I tried pullin it off but I looked between the car and the light and there was a metal strip blocking it. It looks like you would slide it side ways but I wanna make sure. Maybe you just have to force it, (even though that is against my religon, J/K.)

srry I've never done anything w/ lights (noob)

The nub itself is just to keep it in place. If you look under the bulb, theres two connectors. That is because these are dual filament bulbs. They way you're supposed to connect it only uses the less brighter of the two. You can't put it on the other way without cutting off the nubs because of the way they're set up. When you cut the nub, and switch the orientation, the watts will run through the connecter that is supposed to give it a brighter light

Many people on the forum have had these for awhile, but none of had it melt. I'm not sure if it WILL happen, but i figure you dont have your lights on 24/7, so i think it would have enough time cooling down when you're not using it

its up to you to always drive with your lights on, but also factor in how long most of your trips are, and how long its not in use. totally up to you

Does this work with '97 Models? It says that it is for '95-96 Models on the How To. but i have seen some people on the board that have 97+ and doing the cutting of the nub instead of splicing and soldering the wires. Thanks.

on my 99 i cut the top nub with nail clippers and then put the bottom nub where the top nub used to go and got the same result(brighter corners). if your worried about the socket melting, they are easy to replace and cost $14.00 and bulbs are like $3(i should know i messed one up)

good luck

Well I'm gonna get bright lights in the corners, wanna get them even with the XD5's I'm buying. Should I upgrade the fuse in the corners, like 97GLES said? And what fuse would I get?

You can also use a 1156 bulb, just cut off one of the nubs at the base...

just give it a lil elbow grease, the metal thing thats holding in the light is just that, to hold it in, just it out, it wont be easy, but firmly take it out

you MUST change the fuse, i didn't and then i fried the fuse and had to upgraded to a 10a fuse, when u fry the fuse, your brake lights won't work either, so if someone crashes into your back you'll know why

It's not an "upgraded" one...he means one that will allow more current.
Instead of say...a 5A, or 7A...put a 10A in it's place.

With the lights being brighter, they will draw more current = more heat = a 5 or 7 amp "popping" or "blowing" whereas a 10 amp will be able to handle more.

Make sense?

I had to grind the nubs on the bottom of the bulb down to get it back in there. I had to grind them down almost flush.

The thing that holds the lens in place was TIGHT! After taking the screw out and flipping the back part free from the metal flange, I had to insert a wide bladed flat screwdriver in there are lever out the 'pop' socket.

It took a good bit more than five minutes...

I haven't changed the fuse, but I took the car downtown and back to pick up a movie, and it hasn't blown yet.

Good Luck!

Ok, so where can I get 10A? Local parts store? Also, I noticed my lights next to the turn signals were real weak too (like my corners). Anyway I can make those brighter also?
