Floormat post/tab?

Hey folks,

I'm a newb Max owner. Just bought a CLEAN 96 SE with a FSTB, some Progress Springs, and TSW 17" rims. Aside from that, it's stock - and likely to stay that way.

One little gripe I have is that about the floor mats. There is a small post/nub looking thing right in front of the driver's seat on the floor where the floormat fits over (there is a riveted hole in the floormat) to hold it in place. But there is nothing on the top of the post to keep the mat from sliding up and off the post. Should something be on there?

Also, I have the OE 16inch rims with tires on them and I want to sell them. What's the best place to do that? Doesn't seem to be much demand for them on ebay. Any suggestions?

Regards,

Chris

I believe that it sorta just "clicks" in...im not entirely sure since I truley don't pay attention when I'm cleaning off the rugs and putting them back in, but in a few minutes, I have to grab my book bag and do some homework, so I'll take a look when I go out to the car and let you know for sure.

mine just stays kinda hooked to the tab and doesn't really move outa place. what confuses me is why they have one in the passenger side when there isn't the thing to hold it in.

try selling your wheels on here in the for sale section...you'll prolly find someone looking. g'luck and welcome!

Ok I just took a look, and there is a small little tab that stops the floormat from coming up and coming loose...yours may have fallen off

Is the mat sandwiched between the bottom of the post and the tab you mentioned? Mine just has a post that the hole slips over but once it goes over, there is nothing to keep it from slipping back over and coming loose again? Anybody got a picture of the correct setup? Amazing how one little piece can perplex me so bad But hey, I AM a product of public schooling - what can ya expect?

And thanks for the welcome guys!

My previous Maxima had the same problem. U just bent a paperclip into a U-shape and stuck it through the slits in the post (look carefully at it with a flashlight and you'll see what I'm talking about). On my new car, it slides over the post and doesn't come off on its own. Don't ask me why. I'll go outside and take a pic for you in a few.

I use a giant baby diaper pin. Well, maybe not exactly giant but it's a good 4 inches long, works great. I just stick it through the slit on the tab.

TKS a bunch guys for all the help. It's nice to find such a helpful group of interneters. Anymore it's hard to find folks who want to help at all. Thanks again and sure, if you take a pic I'd love to see it but I I think you all gave me enough info to where I can figure it out.

Regards,
Chris
