Rear Brake Lights!

I have a dead brake light bulb and I just bought 1157 bulbs to replace it, but how do I replace them? There is no compartment in the trunk like Hondas (I'm used to Hondas - this is my first Nissan). The only compartment in the trunk is for the jack, and everything else has carpet bolted down. I think I have to take off the whole reflector thing, but how? It's a 95 Maxima GLE.

Thanks!

I believe that you have to remove part of the panel that is right behind the tail light, on the inside of the trunk. There are some twistie tabs and some other ones that you can use a panel tool to get off. You should not have to take the whole panel off, just loosen the part behind the tail light.

There is like 2 twistie things in the trunk (on that rubber part where the trunk closes - where the lid of the trunk hits the metal loop to close). I can't take off the back part b/c there is one of those plastic bolt things right there. I'll take some pictures today when I leave for school.

I have to remove those plastic bolts so that the carpet loosens? I'll post up the pics in about 6-7 hours (after I come back from school).

Yeah, just remove enough of the plastic bolts to lift the carpet away from the taillight you need, then it is a simple latch on the back of the taillight to open to replace the bulb.

Okay, I popped open the trunk and then I took out a twistie thingy & I took out a plastic bolt. After a little struggle, the carpet came loose and then I finally saw the back of the lights and I was happy

BUT the damn thing don't come off. I need to replace the one with that black rubber backing thing (the one all the way in the corner). I tried to take a pic, but the cheap digi cam took a dark pic and you cant see anything. But anyways, how do I take off the black rubber thing to get to the bulb? I tried with a screwdriver but no luck.

The back of the taillight should have a latch at the bottom that you pull up and out to open to reveal the bulbs.
