midpipe install problem

i added a midpipe to my K&N cone filter. everything went smooth on the install. i took all the unnescessary stock stuff out, and put the midpipe on. when i went and took a ride i tried to gun it, and i couldn't go past 30mph. it seemed like the pedal was stuck, but i know it isn't. i know i hooked everything up rightwhere it goes. anyone know what could be wrong?? thanks.

The clamp is hitting your throttle linkage.

Look at the throttle linkage by the throttle body, you'll see it.

thanks that worked i tried it again now i can go fast without any problem... but now the filter seems twice as loud. i know that a K&N filter is supposed to hiss, but this is really loud... my friend with a monsterflow filter isn't anywhere close to as loud... is this a problem?

Sounds like you have a broken johnson rod....Its the peice of metal inside your intake manifold....you have to go to a mechanic to get it fixed, but its not that big of a problem....just dont drive your car on one way streets and the engine should be fine.

lol man i was just joking about the johnson rod....but if you have the hissing while you are idleing then that most likely means you have an leak in the intake somewhere. That means the air is getting out somewhere and your intake is not totally sealed up. You will lose hp so just listen and try to find the leak and patch it up somehow

but i only hear the hissing from the intake and nowhere else. my boy told me that K&N's are louder, and monsterflow filters are more insulated. could this be, and would it harm anything, cause if so i will take the midpipe off. thanks

I ride around with a K&N without a midpipe like you once did. I am currently making my custom midpipe and the only worry i have is that the filter itself may have a leak in it because i never really had anything holding up the intake assembly. The filter was just resting on the fender well, and over time just keeps banging up against the car. Try to put on another filter (possibly ask your friend to test fit his if it fits so you can find out wheter or not your K&N has a hole in it anywhere. If the hissing is still there even with your friend's filter than you have an intake leak somewhere in the midpipe area.
