Just installed budget Y today!

woohoo its on. cost me 47.50 at car-x plus 21.00 for freakin gaskets because budget forgot to send them to me. aren't they supposed to package it with the y-pipe? anyway it feels pretty good, but i haven't had a chance to reset the ecu. will that make a difference? i've heard some people say our ecu's don't need to be reset because they automatically compensate, but others say that we need to disconnect the battery. anyone who knows please let me know. thanks

Nice, how does it sound? did you have an aftermarket catback already if so which one and is the sound change noticeable? Im looking for a throatier/louder tone my greddy SP isn't very loud, at least from everyone else says. you payed 47.50 for the install? not bad. The cars ecu should reset itself every 100 miles I believe, don't quote me on that. Its simple enough to reset it yourself anyway just need a flat head screw driver.

You never need to reset the ECU to compensate for mads. It is constantly learning.

I really wish that someone would clear up this ECU thing. Some people say to reset it after mods like a Y-pipe and some say that it will do no good, since all it does is clear CEL codes. I think that its unnessary to reset the ECU like Ben said since its always learning. Also i know that the Haynes manuel says to never reset the ECU by disconnecting your battery since it clears important things that the ECU has stored.

well i don't have an aftermarket exhaust and the change in sound is almost unnoticeable...but when i start my motor and when accelerating from a dead stop i can slightly hear a different tone to my exhaust. barely. so as far as resetting my ecu...after 100 miles when it learns what to do with the damn ypipe will i feel more power? i've heard that it takes some time to feel the full power of the ypipe. as for now it feels like the top end in 2nd and 3rd isn't as choked as it was before. i'll let u guys know after a few days to see how this baby's working.
