does a 1996 maxima have a timing belt or a chain?

Why is a chain unfortunate?

Ever have a timing belt break on you? I have...EXPENSIVE!!

Chains last longer.

 

well it cost less to replace the timing belt in my 626 :P And well, I need to replace my timing chain right now... its making a klunk noise its the price I got is in the well 900's... hehe. so thats why unfortunate lol :P My car has 103K I was surprised as well, I bought it like 3 weeks ago I wonder what the hell the previous owner did to it...

However there is a TSB for the timing chain 95/96 maximas....

 

Damn...that sux...do what I did and buy a spare engine for a lot less! Then you'll have a lot of spare parts!

 

yeah thats what im considering, it would cost the same to put in a new engine that replace teh dumb timing chain... Since I got a guy who would do the engine swap for $400 and I already found an engine with 57K for $600 So its the same ****... Thats also a bonus, i'll have spare parts :P

 

I bought my spare off ebay for $320 with 47K on it. Came with a carfax report also!





Just keep looking...you'll find a good deal

 

 

$320 thats really good, better take a look on ebay.. the infinity one is exactly the same but with a different cover on it with teh infinity logo right? :P
