Noisy tires on my 97 GXE. Any suggestions?
Noisy tires on my 97 GXE. Any suggestions?
New here. Bought my first Maxima last fall, used 97 GXE with 4 x Cooper Cobra GTHs, new or nearly new. They are very noisy - roar/whine at 35-60 mph on smooth pavement. They feel OK. I checked reviews on these tires. 4 of 5 were favorable citing quiet as one of the pros (all on american mfg autos). The one negative review was an Accord owner who complained that they were horribly noisy. Does this have to do with the Maxima suspension? I'm not looking for anything very aggressive or high end, but would like a reasonably quiet tire. Any suggestions for the '97 GXE on 15"?
Also, what advantages in going to 16" rims/tires?
Thanks!

Usually Z rated tires are the noisey ones. Tread cupping will cause excessive noise. That happens from not rotating. You claim these tires are fairly new so maybe they indeed are a little on the noisy side.
A lot of guys on here, myself included have a set of Dunlop Sport A2's. They are very smooth, very quiet and handle great too.
