Quick Question: K&N Filter

Quick Question: K&N Filter
I own a PR CAI on my 98 SE, it came with the car when I bought it. I hear that the PR intake doesn't come with a K&N filter, so I am thinking of getting one. Now I look on Ebay, and I see 2 different filters. One is a cone K&N filter, and one is like a boxy K&N filter. Which is the right one/better? Thanks for the info.

Be careful that the filter will fit the 3.0" piping. You can go to the following address that lists all K&N universal filters to check the dimensions of the filters.

Then go here to order.

I ordered a K&N RE-0930 and 22-8033PK pre-cleaner filter wrap. The filters was around $39, and the wrap was around $16 if memory serves. Anyway, 4filters didn't have either in stock, but is right close to the K&N facility in California, and had them both to me across the country in West Virginia in about a week. Their shipping is a flat rate of $5.00!![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
You might want to get under the car and take some measurements to see how large of a filter will fit. A cone shaped filter will fit better in the fender than a straight one of similar size, since the inner fender slopes inward.
Good Luck!

Wow, that first one even comes with an aluminum Frankencar MAF adapter! I looked it up... and it DOES have the correct 3" flange, and should fit just fine. ![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I purchased a CAI with a plastic MAF adapter, and ended up making one myself out of steel AND buying a K&N filter to replace the generic unit. This is a pretty good deal so far... but with ebay, it's hard to tell what it will end up going for.
Good Luck!

Thanks for all the posts guys. I guess I should check for measurements, but I don't know how to get to my CAI. Do I remove the wheel or something? Anyways, I'll probably be getting the Cone anyways, if the price isn't too high. Just didn't know if the cylinder one would get more air, since more surface area? Anyways, thanks for the replys.
