Help!! How to remove MAF for TB cleaning

My MAF has a green tab. No matter what I do I can't get the thing out. Please instruct me on how to remove those things. The Green tab thingy can be pressed from the center or pushed inside but it does not bring the sensor out.

Thanks

Just push in the green part all the way and it will pop out. I took me couple of minutes to figure it out when I cleaned my TB

I found that using a flathead screwdriver (wedging it between the MAF connector and the MAF unit while pressing in the green button) works well to remove it.

I initially had problems with the tabs too the first time I encountered them. Push the green tab in all the way (you don't really have to push the tab down, just push it in). When the tab goes all the way in it will click and stay there allowing you to remove the MAF. When you put the MAF back the tab will click and pop all the way out again. '99s have different connectors than other 4th gens, but I believe they seal better. The connector allows only 2 positions: fully engaged or fully disengaged.

Thanks to Mr. Ed's post, I cleaned my TB today after getting cold feet for over a year. What a world of difference. It was bad inside. Got all the gunk out. I think I will neeed to clean the entire TB as just the outside was so dirty. Next time I will get the gasket and remove the whole thing.

How easy did you find it to actually REMOVE the throttle body? I get very anxious around the accelerator and cruise control cables, which my haynes manual says I need to remove to remove the throttle body itself. So I've only cleaned up to the butterfly plate .
Do i need to remove the two cables to proceed? If so, what's the easiest way? BTW: Motorvate.ca says nothing about it in their write-up (though they were a great help with my brakes ).
