I just bought a Geforce ecu and i know it works with the 97's but i just wanted to know why the check engine light will go off.

 

Im assuming you meant "won't go off" but yea, I believe that the ECU was made for 95-96s and its something to do with a sensor or lack thereof, dont worry about it. Im curious, where did you get yours from?

 

i just won an ebay auction....my mechanic said i needed a new ecu cause of a problem ive been having so it works out good...and even if it doesnt fix my problem i could probably make most of my money back by selling it

theres a guy at county line who does work on the side for me whenever i need anything....

 

also wouldnt the check engine light being off cause the car to run rich?

 

 

after reading this thread, how many of you guys went to ebay to search for ecu's? I know I did!!!

 

what i meant to say was normally when your check engine light is off the ecu forces the car to run rich cause something is wrong.....unless your rear o2 is shot then it doesnt really make a difference cause all it does it monitor the cat

Uh, when your check engine light is off??. Do you mean when it's on? The check engine light can be on for many different reasons, many of which have nothing to do with making your car run rich.

 

ur car will only run rich bc of certain codes not all of them so ur misinterpreting what someone else said about a different code somewhere along the way....

 

my car feels like it pulls hard already there....did you notice anything else different...aka gas mileage

 

Theoretically gas mileage should improve, your engine is making more power and burning less fuel, aka running more efficiently. But when you have an ECU you tend to floor your car more so that kindof hurts gas mileage. Anyhow, the biggest gains from an ECU are from probably 3000-5000 rpm. You will like it.
