Strange problem, don't know how to describe it.....help!

Well I was driving to pick up some new belts for my UR UDP, and I get to where I'm going park in a spot and put the car in park (yes it is automatic) and you know when you put it in park the RPMs do go up a little, like from 700 to 1000 or 1100? Well when I put it in park the RPMs jumped to around 2600 or 2700! The car was acting like my foot was still on the throttle. Well my foot wasn't on it, so I popped the hood and decided to check under there, the problem is still happeneing. I then just moved the thorttle cresent moon thing that holds the thorttle cable and reved the eninge that way and the RPMs fell back to normal. I have no idea what caused this, someone please shed some light on this for me.

- Steve

PS. it is a 96 with 100 200 KMs on it.

Maybe your throttle cable was stuck. You said it went back to normal once you revved it from under the hood...I'm not a mechanic but that's be my guess or at least when i'd start to look.
goodluck

if it wasn't the cable getting stuck, the only other thing and this would be a lot ****tier is if the computer kinda went crazy and turned up the rpms but that seems highly unlikely

check your throttle cable and also you might want to clean your Throttle Body as well...... Clean real well around the Butterfly Plate in the TB..... Lots of dirt can get in and cause it to become rather sticky...
