How to tell if you need new mounts?
Hey, I have all the big items i need. The springs and the shocks. I have the install lined up but i have a question. I checked and I need new boots so im ordering the kyb boots. My question is:
How do you know if you need new mounts ? How do you check or know ? Is there something you can look at or for ? If i need new mounts I want to buy them too but not if i dont need them.
Car: 1997 still riding on the springs and shocks that came on the car new, and boy is she getting sloppy. The boots are rotted and im not sure how to check to see if i need new mounts or bearings ? Suggestions and advice ... thanks !!

do you mean upper strut mounts? My drivers side upper strut mount is bad, you can obviously tell because when I turn the wheel, you see the spindle part of the shock moving, if they dont move then you dont have to worry, if you are not talking about upper strut mounts, then sorry and free bump
I suppose im talking about upper strut mounts. I have been reading that you might need to get new mounts , boots and bearings when you are putting on new shocks and springs. I could see that i needed new boots. Mine were rotten, but I dont know how to check to see if i needed new mounts and bearings. I do know the car is handling poorly, and that all this stuff is still the oem parts (shocks, springs, etc) So thats about 5 years of wear and tear. But who knows ? Mounts and bearings could be made to last 100 years !
