i got the place racing cai since ive read that they are better for autos low end. right now i have it set up as a hai because i dont have a dremmel. above 3k rpms on the gas it gives an awsome gurgle. when iddling it gives a small sucking noise from under the hood.

good luck

Cost doesn't matter...?

How about a forced intake...Stillen Supercharger or Turbo.

If you want the best, get a frankencar with apexi filter. Thats what I THINK is the best.

My current one is rare on the Org...HKS Super Megaflow..I love the Deep Growl...it is not "hollow" sounding like the Stillen/K&N short ram. The Injen is sweet but I'll wait until there is less rain to bolt it back on.

What is the benefit of the Apexi filter over the K&N on the Frankencar intacke?

It depends which route you wanna go. I've read that a short-ram intake gives more low end, while a CAI gives more high end. I suggest PR CAI w/ K&N filter. Thats what I got

For my Auto :
1) Stillen Intake = Better High End power....Loud at WOT
2) Stillen Intake + Mid Pipe = Better mid-high end power...Loud at WOT and Hissing at Idle, much more when you turn on A/C.
3) INJEN CAI= I haven't try it yet, but it should help a lot for low end power.
For Auto, I think INjen is a good choice
For Manual, Hybrid will be good
...............................Am I right ?

I had the same question as you not long ago and I noticed from reading up a lot of posts and general user consensus that the JWT pop charger with the frankencar midpipe (or custom midpipe) gave the best power gains.

As far as sound, I'm not a big fan of loudness. I like to stay as close to stock sound as possible. But the JWT is all I have currently and the sound is awesome. I hear exhaust at lower RPMs, and when I'm at WOT, I hear a very nice deep, deep growl from the JWT (combined with the turbo-like hissing of my y-pipe)... I'm very satisfied for someone who doesn't like sound.

I don't have any dyno proof yet though.

Apexi, like the stillen or JWT, have a velocity stack built into the filter. It hepls reduce air turbulance as it enter the TB. I noticed smoother acceleration with my apexi compared to a traditional cone filter. The engine also seemed to breath a little better up top with the apexi.

Here is the answer, Turbo

Compare the turbo @ 4psi of boost

to the Supercharger @ 6.5 psi of boost

Got it backwards buddy. Careful throwing stuff out there without researching it first. That could cause someone to get the totally wrong product for what their looking for. BTW, to answer the original quesiton, if your looking for maximum high-end power, keep the length of piping to a minimum, or eliminate it altogether. I.E. JWT Pop-charger.

I would suggest a PR or PR style CAI w/the K&N filter. Best for everyday driving unless you have a MEVI than go for the HAI to complement the MEVI/"High End"(5500-7000rpm range).

Peace.
