installed EBAY short ram intake

there's the midpipe.

there were a few issues with fitment of the hoses to the midpipe, but a little bit of ingenuity fixed all of that

I would recommend getting the APC breather filter for replacing the hose coming from the block itself.

i used duct tape for some of the hoses... I didn't trust the fitment.. felt kinda loose.

other than those problems, it's fine up to now.

i definately feel a bit of a loss in low end power.. but i think there are some gains in the high end field. Not exactly sure yet.

i DO know that the sound is great! and the ECU isn't throwing any codes at me either!

I have that midpipe also. It's the RVM mid pipe. No fitment issues at all on my 97 se. Everything is tight. You sure you put it on right?

Wow, your hoses weren't long enough? I used the stock hoses and it fit just fine.

How did you guys get the air temp sensor to fit snug? My CAI from ebay only has a rubber plug for it, but the stock sensor is oblong with two screw holes. Do I need to cut it? Is there a different sensor version to buy that will slip into the hole? Thanks.

Mine is just hanging loose in the intake area. don't worry about it unless the ECU is giving you codes. My temp sensor ended up close to the block once after one of my WOT escapades. just tie it down somewhere so it dosent get i nthe way of some moving parts liket he radiator fan (if its that long..) or the throttle body.

No, i guess it's because you might have pointed the curve in the other direction.. and probably because you might have taken the lower half of the airbox out and given the assy more room to move around.

i might do the same thing as aznsnap and head over to autozone or pep boys to replace hoses.

Note: if anyone wants to secure the filter to the maf securely (it dosent tighten by itself) you need t oget a nut from home depot. the size would be M6 (6mm) 1.0 (not sure what 1.0 is.. but make sure it's that)

Isn't it supposed to go on the other way? Like having the bent part of the pipe to the side the filter is on. I think that is why you are having short hoses but you can correct me if I am wrong

i bought the same RVM pipe from teh same guy. I was able to re-use the very slim, stock black hose. I went to autozone with the larger two stock rubber hoses and asked for 2 feet of each since theyre different size. The rear hose (closer to firewall) is 19mm inner diameter. The crank case breather hose is less than that (dont know how much). Autozone gave me heater hose for 99cents a foot. its rubber and when you cut it on a cross section, you can see less than 10 threads running parallel with the lenght of the hose. I used the original metal clamps on these hoses. I connected the 3" to 2.5" coupler to the mid-pipe and throttle body respectively. I connected the 3" coupler to MAF and midpipe. Fitting it on the MAF was a b*tch but I made sure to clamp all 4 connection points down tight. I put the bent end of the pipe towards the TB because it seemed logical. It makes no real difference as far as I can tell.
Before this i had just a JWT popcharger and that setup actually seemed louder. However, i prefer this "quieter" (even though its still loud!) setup because I seem to notice the power gains whereas with just the popcharger they were not as noticeable.

I have the same midpipe

The only lame thing about this kit is the undersized too short length of silicone hose provided by the seller. The inside diameter of the hose is about 1/2 what it needs to be to fit over the OEM hose fittings.

Other than that, the pipe is well built and looks good - plus, the price can't be beat.

Do yourself a favor: Lose the duct tape and "hose-within-a-hose" setup.

Do what I (and others) did and go to your local auto parts store:

Buy 5/8" heater hose (enough for both hoses) and four 1"-1 1/2" hose-clamps and clamp it down properly. (Should all be under $5)

The way your hoses are set up now can cause vacuum leaks, which can lead to unfiltered air entering the engine, as well as inconsistent throttle response.

You are thinking of the frankencar pipes. The RVM midpipe is reminiscent of our Stage 1 intake pipe.

i bought just the midpipe, couplers, etc.

i got the filter and adapter separately.. and yes it's plastic. it does well in my setup.. no complaints here. just get the nut to secure it from the other side.

thanks for the info. i never intended my current setup to be permanent though.
