Brake squeak

I'm a novice do-it-yourselfer. Just changed brakes pads for the first time ever. Now I have a very loud squeel from the right side of the car on my 96 Maxima.

I used Raybestos pads from Pep boys and replaced all four pads on my car. The car stops normally and doesn't pull to either direction.

Did I re-install anything wrong? I thought I did a pretty good job. The Haynes manual does recommend an anti-squeel gel be applied, which I did not use. Could that truely be the culprit? No one I know has ever used it on any of the brake changes they have done on their cars.

Thanks for the advice all.

Mike

If you used the self-adhesive shims that came with the brake pads, you don't need the anti-squeel gel.

Did you clean and regrease the pins on the caliper?
