vq head on a vg block?
vq head on a vg block?
I put on my mad scientist hat on and started thinking. The VQ block is made of alluminum (I think) and as a result the engine does not handle that much power. But the VG30de has an iron block which consequentialy handles more power than we will ever see on the max engine. So it got me thinking that the VG engine is biult to handle twin turbo applications which means that it also handle higher boost pressures. And since it displaces 3.0 litters much like the VQ maybe they might be compatible. Even the compression ratios are the same for the non turbo application 10.0.1. However, the tt application has a 8.0.1 compression ratio. For does looking to slap on a turbo on your ride why not just swap blocks and not worry too much about reworking your engine.
With VQs handling 430+ to the wheels on stock internals on this board even there's not much point. It's been tested by tuners (you can search for the thread if you want, its a few months old now) to be good to about 550hp before it pops... where'd you get the idea it can't handle much power?
Who said the VQ cant handle power. There are factory turbo VQs out there, just not in the US.
I really think the VQ has more potential than the RB26 for making insane power.
The VQ25DET in the Stagea wagon is rated a 280hp and 300lb-ft. Stock.

yeah... try the VQ30DET in the jap spec nissan gloria/cedric with 280bhp and 285lb ft.... now thats stock. which equates to the same statistics as nissan gives for the BNCR33 GTS25t TypeM RB25DET (less a few on the tq side), which we all know is underated as well as nothing close to its real potential. the R34 Skyline GT-R came with similar stats of 280bhp and 292lb ft but i suppose that engine couldn't handle much power. lol dont mess with a nissan nerd because i have more nerdy sites and useless info then you do
to sum up the vq in the max has much potential and nont only is there no reason to replace the block but its kinda stupid. keep cool, later
