I took off my muffler(stillen) yesterday to get at something. I cut the bolts off because they were so rusted, bought new ones and put it back on and it was leaking at the connection. I remember I didnt get a gasket, got a gasket and put it on, a little quieter but still leaking exhaust. So I am wondering whats wrong here. I looked at the stock muffler and noticed there is a crush ring in there. My uncle installed the muffler for me and I never saw any of the parts that came w/ it...was there a crush ring that came w/ the muffler? And do I need to replace it now? Any help is appreciated because I cant stand the sound of this thing!

yea, u do need to put the ring in

 

a new one right? because I'm guessing the old one is still on the muffler, but i didnt even check.

 

stillen cant use a crush ring, they use a different kind. I made my own out of header gasket material, just cut it to shape and put it on. its been like 2 years sicne I made my own with no problems.

 

well I need something quick....hopefully i have time tomorrow for this cause I cant take the sound at all and I dont have another car to use either

 

I'll be able to find the right kind of gasket....is the stillen muffler piping 2 or 2.5"?
