How to change CV boot???

A friend of mine help me do mine only instead of rebuilding the boot we just put in a rebuild half shaft. It alot easier to do and doesn't cost alot either. I got mine for a local auto part store and for $60 with a $50 core charge. The dealer had the rebuild kits for like $45 apiece but he said that the rebuild process was very tedious work. You follow the same process as show in those directions only when you pull out the old shaft, you simply replace it with the new or rebuilt one. The other option of course is to have it done. The dealer here in Austin wanted $240 to $250 which is not bad condidering most other shops I called wanted maybe $10 to 20 less to do it. I did however see some independently owned shops that said $130, but I'm not sure if that was parts and labor...Hope this helps. It's not a major repair though...not as bad as I thought. However, you will need some specialized tools to do it yourself. All of which can be borrowed from Autozone....
