Antenna stuck

Antenna stuck
My antenna won't go down anymore. I can still hear the motor run when I turn off my radio, but it just stays up??
The dealer said there is a nylon thread inside the antenna unit that probably broke.
Has anyone run into this problem? If so, did you replace the whole unit or just buy the nylon piece ($40) and replace that?
How hard would it be to try to replace this nylon piece?
Thanks

i personally find that after a while, having the antenna go up and down from turnign the radio on and off , the car on or off, or switching between radio and say CD or cassette got a little annoying and i got tired of WD40ing it after cold winter days. So i put it in a nice not to high low postion by force of hands and disconnected the motor. The max has 2 antenna, one on the top of the back windows in the form of window strip and the antenna so nop worries.
