30K maintenance
Open your Owner's Manual. Look at the list of 30K maintenance items. Replacement items are air filter, engine oil, engine oil filter. Everything else falls in to the category of "inspect this, inspect that". The 30K maintenance can be done by any qualified person and that includes the owner himself.
Daniel,
It's good to see you on the Maxima forum. I used to read the maxima newsgroup through http://www.remarq.com , but that was bought out or something, and I don't know another site to use. Anyway, it good to hear you post.

I continue to be an active participant on the newsgroups "alt.autos.nissan" and "alt.autos.nissan.maxima". I access them principally through Outlook Express and the newsgroup reader provided by my Internet Service Provider. That server is shaky, so I also access those newsgroups through http://www.deja.com which is free.

360 Yeah right! I'm coming up to 30 k and if that's how much the maintenance is I think I probably will not do it 'cause it's a waste of cash. With only another 6k left on the powertrain warranty (I think?) If you have common sense and a tiny bit of mechanical aptitude you can probably accomplish the same inspect this inspect that yourself. The get an oil change pop in a K and N take your girlfriend out for the weekend with the couple of hundred you saved

just did 30K
about two weeks ago. I looked at the owner's manual and more or less it was an "inspect this and that" but not too much to really do. Well, same thing here, I called Koeppel nissan over here in queens and the guy said 355--called a couple of other places in NJ and one lunatic told me 450--but he said if I took the car in at 8am he would have it back for me at 6pm and I could get a loaner (yeah right!!). He probably thought I was nuts...so I asked him what they do--he said they "clean" your spark plugs--he hell is that??? doesn't the owners manual say NOT TO CLEAN AND REINSTALL SPARK PLUGS?? in any case, they would do the transmission flush, fuel filter, change the coolant...inspect the brakes and rotate the tires...and the rest is the same, oil change with filer and air filter.
Okay...I did some of it myself--my bill came out to about $150 with everything--parts and labor. The transmission flush and fuel filter and oil change was done at the dealer--too much of a pain in the BUTT@! the rest--buy an air filter $8 and pop it in, flush the transmission fluid $6.99 for the prestone antifrreeze and 1/2 hr of myt time...spark plugs don't need to be changed until 60k--but I might change it later on...I agree with all these guys--save the money-- =)
