RPM Gone Crazy


Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? 96 GXE no engine mode yet just cosmetic, anyway here is my problem. I'll be driving, anywhere from about 65-80 MPH and the RPM meter will start to go wild! Its shoots down to zero goes back up, start to go back and fort fast, like wipers. What has got me puzzle is that I feel no difference in performance the car is haul A$$. I was told by a tech at the dealer to take the meter out and check the plugs. Did that, still goes CRAZY. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's prolly intermittent signals from the engine speed sensor (the one that measures RPMs).

Let the dealer figure it out. I personally don't like messing with the guage cluster (if you damage it, you might be able to trade the car in since it looks like you rolled back the odo).

Funny you should say that when I first bought the car it look like someone has been in there. I went back to the dealer and raised hell the next day, they gave some paper work that tracked the car Maintains with mileage it seem ok.
