Budget Y Installed Help!!
After more than a 6 hour battle with my old y-pipe I finally was able to get my new Budget Y in place. I hoped in the car after an oil change and went for a quick ride. I reset the ECU (moved the screw from left to right twice) and I'm not really feeling all the NEW power. Where should I be feeling the new horses and how long does the ECU take to recognize and work with the new Y? Sorry if this has already been asked...I admit it, I'm a NEWB.
I felt a substantial amount of power when i installed it, but its seemed to fizzle out, maybe im just used to it, but as you can see, my 1/4 times absolutely suck!!
Maybe with my custom B-pipe and new rear exhuast going on later this summer as well as these sticky as hell Yoko AVS ES100 tires, i can knock it down a few tenths..

From what Ive heard here, autos get less of a "butt-dyno" feel than a 5-speed.
Are you auto?
Or, have you taken it to redline, cuz I think its somewhere up there, but im not sure.

i'd think it would be much easier to notice on an auto, because there is less driver influence. like i can shift hard and soft making it FEEL faster or slower...etc.
auto...you just floor it and know what it feels like...and it will feel different when you stick a performance mod on it.
as for the ypipe, i didn't feel gains immeidiately, and i didn't feel much at anytime actually. i went to the track before/after the ypipe, and i ran 0.2 seconds better, however i was launching much better this time, which is supposed to account for 0.2 seconds. and my trap speeds didn't increase
That means it would be stupid to get a y-pipe for those with auto trans, right?

Look here and compare the two curves. One is pre-Budget-Y the other is post-Budget-Y. You see the hp gain isn't really prominent until 4500+ rpm.
Dyno plots are for '95 SE M/T.

wtf? It adds FWHP after 4500rpm, if you go WOT the car will shift at 6700rpm (or something close to that, I forget exactly)... It definatly wouldn't be stupid

on the auto you will notice huge torque steer at 4k rpms. the first time i drove mine the wheel nearly yanked out of my hands.
i agree with the statement about the 5spd and auto, in the auto you just go wot and manually shift, so your shifts are virtually the same every time, there is no letting out the clutch softly or dropping it like in the 5spd where you can control your shifts.

I feel the difference at aroun 3000 or 3500 rpm. Thing is I barely ever go past 2500 rpm it's kinda useless, until those pesky ricers rev at me at the lights. Then it really comes in handy. After about 4500 rpm, when the intake and y pipe seem to be the loudest, people just back off immediately...
