How do you remove stock tip of exhaust

Hey guys, I want to paint my stock exhaust black, but was wondering how do you remove the tip off of the exhaust?

pull as hard as you can...... its not welded or anything, so it comes off easily (kinda)

I hammered from the back side AND used big pliers. Work your way around the edge with the hammer& it'll slowly work loose.

I used a hammer and a big flathead on the WELDS in my 96 SE. Just put the flathead right on the welds and give it a good whack with the hammer.

Without the tip, he could prep better a little more easily. I imagine he'd want to sand the corrosion and crap off it so the paint can bond better. You know how Budget Exhaust paints their y-pipes & it just burns off after a while.
